Ruckman treating modern translations as if they were Satanic Bibles

At Ruckmanism.org we do not endorse any modern translations. Although the main purpose of this website is not for exposing other translations, we are concerned about the proliferation of translations and we do provide a list of literature on the topic that we consider to be balanced compared to most of what is available. However, we are disturbed by the way Ruckman portrays modern translations as coming from hell, not to mention how he blames them or their revisers for everything from an increase in dope traffic to the national debt. The following quotes demonstrate he is trying to be sensational rather than reasonable:

The ASV came out in 1901 followed by WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Korea, the bankruptcy of England, the division of Germany and the Communist takeover of China, Bulgaria, Romania, Russia and Czechoslovakia. The RSV came out in 1952 followed by the Vietnam war, the doubling of the tax rate, inflation and the doubling of the divorce rate in a nation of chronic alcoholics who talk about legalizing marijuana. (Ruckman, Peter. Theological Studies, Vol. 8, p. 10)

It seems likely that the men who provoked the wars he mentioned would not have known English, so they could not have read the Bible translations he blames even if they wanted to!

Ruckman takes matters to an unthinkable level, blaming modern translations for all sorts of social ills:

…the FRUITS of exchanging the Authorized Version for the New American Standard Version or the New International Version or another clown’s production for a spectator at a circus of “virtual realities.” Don’t forget to list 39,000,000 abortions in America, a divorce rate of one out of two marriages, the total collapse of the missionary burden in more than 5,000 churches, the increase of venereal diseases, muggings, rape, arson, murder, and fraud ten times as fast as the population increase, two wars LOST by the “best nation on the earth,” subservience to Catholic, Hindu, Moslem, and atheistic nations OUTSIDE the United States, international starvation and terrorism, two fornicating scum buckets as Commanders in Chief of the American armies (JFK and Slick Willie), the Federal Reserve System, the great depression (1929), and a national debt of $6,000,000,000,000 … (Ruckman, Peter. Bible Believers’ Bulletin. Dec. 2002, p. 10)

[modern Bible versions] …accomplished anything for America but an increase in dope traffic, illegitimate births, legalized pornography and prostitution, social acceptance of sex perverts, destruction of the public school system, a government takeover of churches and private schools, and a 500 percent increase in the crime rate… (Ruckman, Peter. The History of the New Testament Church. Vol. 1, p. xxii of introduction)

Their sins [correcting the KJV] are exactly like the sins of rapists, bootleggers, bank robbers, adulterers, drunks, drug addicts, sex perverts, and “double agents”; except they do eight times as much damage (see Musselman’s list) since they affect the religious and spiritual leaders of America. I hold them accountable for the moral condition America is now in. (Ruckman, Peter. Bible Believers’ Bulletin. June 2007, p. 18)

The translating committee of the NKJV just added several tons of puke to the puke pile. (Ruckman, Peter. The Christian Liar’s Library. 1997, p. 109)

The most depraved corruptions that ever were vomited out of the pit [referring to ASV and RSV] (Ruckman, Peter. Minor Prophets Commentary. 1978 (1984 reprint) p. 292)

NIV…the crap once delivered to the Nicolaitans…RSV and NRSV…demonic compatriots…contend for the garbage that was once dumped in a dead end alley. (Ruckman, Peter. General Epistles Commentary Vol. 2. Pensacola: Bible Baptist Bookstore, 2004, p. 314)

This series of quotes from Satan’s Masterpiece the New ASV published in 1972 demonstrates this trashing has been going on by Ruckman for over 40 years:

…godless, depraved crap… (p. 67) …God-forsaken piece of trash (the NASV)… (p. 28) … …Devil’s Bible [NASV is implied]… (p. x) …a vile piece of filth [NASV]… (p. 32) …Luke 24:51, 52 in the NASV is a Christ-dishonouring, mind-insulting, God-defying piece of lying filth… (p. 41) …New American Standard Garbage… (p. 55) …vile translation [NASV]… (p. 71) …Holy Roman Gentile New Ecumenical Bible” of the Antichrist [NASV]… (p. 77).

Notice this admission by Ruckman regarding the Bibles he opposes:

You can find all of the fundamentals of the FAITH in any Roman Catholic Bible recommended by any Communist Pope or any Liberal Bible published by Agnostics and Satanists in the National Council of Churches. (Ruckman, Peter. The “Errors” in the King James Bible. Pensacola: Bible Baptist Bookstore, 1999, p. 109)

An amazing admission! Wouldn’t his own admission reveal he is guilty of exaggerating many of his claims about other Bible translations? We deplore these ill-suited tactics, and we believe this adds to the multiple reasons why Ruckman's literature should be soundly rejected.

  1. Ron Perry says:

If you actually studied the material available pertaining to manuscript evidence by other authors you would find they are in agreement with Dr. Ruckman.

  2. Visitor says:

But, if Ruckman only appealed to the manuscript evidence, and not vile, filthy language and name calling, he wouldn’t be able to sell as many books.

2 Peter 2:3 states, “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you, whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.”

I used to be made merchandise of by Ruckman and a church that made, at that time, my Heavenly Father’s house an house of merchandise rather than a house of prayer.
    Thank God I woke up!!!!

I had to double check on wikipedia if Peter Ruckman was still alive. Yes, I read many books from Ruckman in the early 90s ranging from the KJV v modern bibles issue to various other bible topics. I sort of moved on and lost touch with Ruckman’s materials until the net came along for me 10 years ago.

He doe’s display an acid tongue in his writings that probably is a big turn-off for anyone trying to understand his stance on many bible subjects.

So be it ! I suppose would be Ruckman’s response.

I don’t agree with everything he says on the KJV 1611 and maybe he would run me down for saying the authorized version is the most accurate English bible compared to modern versions.

    • David Coud was correct in his assessment in his book What About Ruckman, where he stated that Ruckman had done more damage in the modern day than any other to the Biblicist cause. I contend the only one close would be Gail Riplinger the triple divorcee.
